Travel Tips
- Download offline maps before Barkot: Mobile signal is unreliable at Janki Chatti and on the trek trail. Download Google Maps or Maps.me offline for the Barkot–Janki Chatti area before leaving Barkot. The trek trail itself is clearly marked and impossible to miss — but offline maps are useful for navigating in Barkot and Hanuman Chatti.
- Note the Hanuman Chatti junction: Hanuman Chatti (9 km before Janki Chatti) is where the Yamuna and Hanuman Ganga rivers meet. This is also the starting point for the Har Ki Dun valley trek (a separate, multi-day trek). Don't confuse Hanuman Chatti with Janki Chatti — the Yamunotri trek begins specifically at Janki Chatti.
